Hi Jennifer,
It was a pleasure meeting you in Lazaro's studio last April. I was googling Lazaro's work, and came across this site. Hope you're well!

Hi Jennifer,
My story is the same as many below; welcomed into his studio and returned in the late afternoons to sip coffee with the family and shoot the breeze. Looking forward to seeing him and his art in LA tomorrow.

Hi Jennifer I too was recently in Cuba and fell in love with his work! He mentioned he would be in the States at the Central Library July 14th but there is nothing on their site for this. I actually have his card with the info on it.. will this happen? I pray it does.

Hello Sandra, Yes he is presently preparing for a show in Los Angeles. Unfortunately I didn't get the definite dates on this. I'm thinking that if you called the Central Library, they would have information on this by now. I will try to reach him so I can clarify this and post it on my site. I do remember him talking about it in the recent interview I did with him. Perhaps If I hear a date as I review it, ill let you know. Check back here in the next months to see the update on his profile and others in Cuba. Just returned last week.

Hi Jennifer,
I met Lazaro and his wife this past March 2017 when in Trinidad. He also provided the local drink (yum!). Amazing carvings! Such a unique form of art. I loved that her subjects were primarily locals from Trinidad. Seemed many artists in Trinidad would incorporate their town into their art. I wanted to purchase one of Lazaro's pieces, but nothing was for sale (seemed he was saving pieces to ship to the US). We visited many artists throughout Cuba and by far, Lazaro was my favorite. Thanks for sharing this wonderful person & artist to the world!

Like you, I came upon the artists studio by chance. I was quite taken by his carvings, and hope to see them again in the US. He noted that he will be in California in the summer. We hope to see him on the East coast. What a treasure...highlight of my trip to Cuba.

Mady, i'm happy that you also stumbled upon his studio. He is a very talented artist and a great man. When you say East, where do you mean? Anywhere close to Montreal by chance. Please write me a personal message via a email. jennifercloutier11@gmail.com . Thank you.

Hi Jennifer,
I recently met Lazaro Niebla in Trinidad. He shared that he was preparing for an exhibition in Minneapolis. I live in the area, and would enjoy seeing him and more of his work, while encouraging my friends to join me and support his efforts. However, I'm struggling to pinpoint the correct gallery, based on the details he gave me (Galleria 36 - ?). Is there any chance you can help me unravel the details?
Most sincerely,
Jennifer

Jennifer, Im so happy you got to meet this incredible artist and sweet man. He has become a inspiration to me and a great friend. As for your question. For the gallery in Trinidad, the address is above. For the potential gallery in Minneapolis, well, I don't think he has set the dates and nothing is official as of now. At least that's the information i had in February. He is presently only preparing for the show. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm in contact with quite of few artists and gallery owners in Trinidad and might be able to find out more information. You can also reach me by phone. I would be glad to chat about Lazaro of any other artists that took your interest in Cuba while traveling there. I hope you have a lovely day.

Hello again ...
Thanks for your response and thoughts, Jennifer. My apologies for the delayed acknowledgment of your note back to me.
When he and I met, he did have a specific date set for a visit to Minneapolis. I have since tried to email him directly, as well. If I am able to iron out the details between now and next week, I will be sure to check back in here (the date I have from him is June 23rd ... coming soon!)
Again, thank you for your response. And thank you for sharing your connections and support of these amazing artists!

Perfect. I tried to write you back with the email I have but it didn't work. Please let me know the date you have for his show in the states when you have it confirmed and I will add it to this blog. My email is in the contact info. Thank you Jennifer

Apologies for the short notice! It finally all came together ...
Upon return from Cuba, nearly a month ago, I searched ... emailed, made phone calls. Nothing tangible popped up to confirm the information I had from the artist/sculptor who has connected us here. As a "last-ditch-effort" last night, I searched the web one more time and finally found confirming details. All details coincide with the information I was presented back in Trinidad: Galeria 36 on June 23rd! Perhaps the gallery was just slow to post information or my searches were somehow incomplete (aside from connecting me with you).
Here is a link to an event page on Facebook:

Again, I do apologize for the short notice. If I am able to chat with him tomorrow night, I will tell him that you and I have been in contact. I do hope to have friends with me to help support his art, his efforts, and his travel to the States via the US-Cuba Artist Exchange!
Thank you for staying connected. :-)

Great. Can you please tell him I say hello and look forward to seeing him in November. Can you also show him this interview on my website. I sent him a email but I am unsure if it reached him. Thank you Jen. Can I also get your personal email, so we can connect through emails and not through this site. Enjoy the show, I only wish I could be there in person to celebrate this moment with him.
